Bonnyville Narrows City Hall Options

Bonnyville town council has whittled down their options somewhat for a new city hall.

Council was provided with 6 different proposals at their last meeting, four involved a new building on the same site, a fifth proposed renovating the current building and a sixth moving into the C2 where Portage College used to be. The renovation plan was scrapped due to 70 year old building’s many structural issues and high costs. Moving into the C2 was the cheapest plan, but came with it’s own set of problems. Mayor Gene Sobolewski explains that moving there would remove the possibility of it ever being used as an educational space, put the town hall too far from the downtown core and make it difficult to access by foot, particularly for seniors.

The town still has a lot to consider before selecting a final proposal. No timeline has been put in place yet.
