Bonnyville RCMP uncover firearms and stolen property in rural property search

The Bonnyville RCMP executed a search warrant on April 25th at a rural property situated on Range Road 452 near Township Road 621, suspecting the presence of stolen property.

As officers approached the property, a vehicle attempted to flee but was swiftly intercepted a short distance away. Upon inspection, the driver was found to be under the influence of drugs, with a subsequent search revealing possession of a controlled substance.

The search warrant proved the uncovering of stolen trailers, a significant quantity of pilfered copper wire on the premises, and several prohibited firearms inside the residence. Four individuals were apprehended in total, with charges laid against two males identified as 37-year-old Dakota Masson and 48-year-old Jason Nunweiller, both residents of Cold Lake.

Both individuals face charges of possessing stolen property over $5000 and two counts of altering or destroying a VIN. Masson faces additional charges, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm, eight counts of possession of a weapon contrary to order, and possession of cocaine. Furthermore, Masson received Provincial Sanctions for impaired driving, resulting in the seizure of the vehicle he was operating for 30 days. Both accused were remanded in custody pending their initial court appearance.
