Bids Submitted for Two Provincial Hockey Tournaments in Bonnyville

Once the dust settles on the World Junior A Challenge at the end of the year, Bonnyville hockey fans might have two other tournaments to look forward to in the coming years.

The Senior Pontiacs have put in a bid to hose the Hockey Alberta “AA” Provincial Championship during March 23rd through 25th of 2018.

“The Provincial Championships will be an excellent complement as one of the events to commemorate the 65th Anniversary season of the Bonnyville Pontiacs”, wrote Deputy Mayor Lorna Storoschuk in a letter supporting the bid. “We understand that the Provincial Championship would bring the top five senior hockey teams in Alberta to Bonnyville; this include players, coaches, fans and guests.”

Bonnyville might also see the Pewee B-tier Provincials come in to town this coming March from the 23rd to 26th. Both MD and town councils have thrown their support behind the bid for it at the C2.
