Tellier Pharmacy Holding Drive for Food Bank

Tellier Guardian Pharmacy is holding a “Cook The Turkey” Food Drive from November 6th to 19th to raise money for the local Friendship Centre.

The campaign encourages the public to bring in food donations to the store to reach 1,650 lbs and if the goal is met, Tellier’s will donate an additional $500 towards the food bank.

“Since it takes 165 degrees to officially cook a turkey, we thought it would be a great idea to create a “Cook The Turkey campaign,” said Owners Paul & Ruth Tellier. “Instead of just aiming for 165lbs of food, we thought we would issue a challenge for the whole community to bring in 1,650 lbs of food,” added Ruth Tellier. “From November 6-19 we will be accepting food and/or monetary donations at the store and if we reach our goal and “cook the turkey,” we will donate an additional $500 to the food bank. In these tough economic times, we wanted do our part and help the food bank as well as encourage community involvement.”

“Most people think about donating to the food bank during holiday seasons, but the Food Bank is a year-
round operation,” says Director of the Food Bank Pauline Mawer. “In these times more people are utilizing the food bank and our reserve of food starts to shrink and it is only through the wonderful generosity of the local community that we are able to restock the shelves and continue to provide food hampers up until the traditional giving season again. We had an outpouring of support from the public in September and I just encourage everyone to still keep giving and support Tellier’s Cook the Turkey Campaign.”
