The Lakeland Co-op is accepting donations at the till on behalf of the red cross for evacuees of the Fort McMurray disaster.
The initiative was brought into effect this morning and has already seen donations as high as a hundred dollars. General Manager Mario Bouvier says the campaign hits close to home for some. “We have a few staff that had friends and family actually affected by the Fort McMurray fires and some of our staff are actually housing some of the evacuees.”
The co-op will keep the donations going for at least the next week.
