Another fundraiser has been supported by the Lakeland. Over 3,000 Lakelanders came out to the annual Scott MacDonald Memorial Football Event on Saturday at Walsh Field. For the first time in it’s history, the event featured a triple-header with the Bonnyville Renegades, Bandits and Voyageurs all in action. Despite all three teams losing, $19,000 was raised on the Saturday, and nearly $25,000 is expected to be raised overall as donations are still being welcomed until October 15th. Bonnyville Bandits Head Coach, Dan Jubinville, says the triple-header will likely be a re-occurring theme in the future.
80 per cent of the money raised will go to the Bonnyville Cancer Centre and the additional 20 per cent goes to the Scott MacDonald Scholarship Fund.
