Wanted suspect held on drug charges

Wainwright RCMP say they have disrupted a suspect whom they believe to be a known drug dealer for the second time.

“We have been able to disrupt a known drug dealer in our community for a second time in less than 2 months. This should serve notice to individuals who continue to be a burden on our community that we are actively following up on all leads for drug distribution and stolen property,” says Sergeant Michael Miller, Detachment Commander of Wainwright RCMP.

Back in February following a police search at a home at fifth avenue in Wainwright, police seized illicit drugs and money. They also charged three suspects, but were only able to locate and arrest two of them.

On March 18, Wainwright RCMP executed a search warrant at the same house.

Officers seized 51 grams of suspected meth, 8 grams of suspected cocaine, along with copper wire and a generator that they deemed to have been stolen.

On this occasion, RCMP arrested two suspects including the individual they had charged back in February.

Timothy John Davis, 33-years of Wainwright is facing several charges including:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Failure to comply with release conditions

Davis also had four outstanding warrants for his arrest. After a judicial interim release hearing, Davis was released and is to return to Wainwright provincial court on April 6.

Also charged is Lanny Peters-Bishop, 23-years of Wainwright with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Failure to comply with release conditions

Bishop was remanded into custody and is expected back in Wainwright provincial court on April 6.

Wainwright RCMP are asking the public’s assistance in reporting information about suspected drug houses in the community. Please contact Wainwright RCMP at 780-842-4461 or your local police. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS)
