UPDATED: Smoky Lake RCMP has determined the incident is not criminal in nature and residents are no longer advised to shelter in place. RCMP says there was never any threat to the public.

Smoky Lake RCMP is currently investigating a report of a male with a weapon near H. A. Kostash School in Smoky Lake.
The school is on lockdown right now and parents are asked to avoid the area at this time.
RCMP is asking residents in the area to stay in their homes and go to the basement if possible and for motorists to stay clear as well.
