Update: Since the article was published, the City of Cold Lake announced an opening date for the Energy Centre of June 16th.
The Bonnyville and District Centennial Centre is back open as of Monday, with some slight differences from the usual routine.
Visitors should expect a health screening checklist when they stop by. The Wellness Centre will close down between 1 and 2 PM for a cleaning and change rooms will be unavailable for the time being.
The walking track and field house will also be open for guests.
Meanwhile in Cold Lake, city officials say the Energy Centre will open on Tuesday.
“We’re very excited to be able to start the reopening process,” said Mayor Craig Copeland. “It’s not as simple as turning the lights on and opening the doors. We had to ensure that new safety protocols were in place, and that staff were available to return to work.”
The Cenovus Energy Wellness Centre, CNRL Walking Track, and access to Booster Juice will be open to the public. Other areas of the Energy Centre will remain closed for now, including the arenas, field house, and the climbing wall. Operating hours for the Energy Centre will be from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm, Monday to Friday, and 8:00 am to 8:00 pm on the weekend.
A re-opening of The Bold Centre in Lac La Biche is still up in the air, as county officials there say they are working towards re-opening but have not announced when that might be.
