Stubbs takes Lakeland

Conservative Party member Shannon Stubbs is back in the saddle representing the Lakeland in Ottawa. Unofficial results from Elections Canada says Stubbs is the winner of Monday night’s federal election in the riding of 108,000 residents. She says she’s excited to get back to work.

“Well, I am really grateful and honoured that the people of Lakeland have put their trust and their confidence in me for a second time to go to Ottawa and fight for our values and our priorities in all the communities across our riding.”

This is the second time Stubbs has been voted into the Lakeland riding after it was re-drawn in 2015. She was serving as the Conservative Shadow Minister of Natural Resources before the election.

Stubbs says the plan when she gets back to Ottawa is to keep up pressure on a Liberal government.

“I will go to Ottawa to fight for Lakeland and fight for Alberta. I was the first MP in the House of Commons after 2015 to say a strong Alberta means a strong Canada. I’ll go back to take up that fight once again.”
