Mounties say remains found in Saddle Lake

Mounties are investigating after human remains were found at a property in Saddle Lake. Police say they were called on June 25th after a resident discovered the remains. RCMP Media Relations Officer Corporal Ronald Bumbry says the remains have now been moved and the investigation into what happened has begun.

“We immediately responded and we were able to secure those remains. We have transported them off to the medical examiner’s office for further review.”

The investigation is in its early stages and the RCMP cannot say if the remains are linked to the case of 34-year-old Kimberly Cardinal. The location where the remains were found is close to where she was last seen, says the mounties.

“The residence where the human remains were located at is approximately 1 kilometre away from the last known location of Kimberly Cardinal in regards to our missing person investigation.”

Cardinal has been missing since May. Bumbry says there is no timeline on when any answers may come back from the medical examiner’s office.
