Buses Will Be Running By Summer in The City of Cold Lake

The City of Cold Lake plans to hit the road with public transit come summer. The City plans to have two buses, one going north and one going south. There will be multiple stops and a rendezvous in the middle of the route.

Deputy Mayor, Vicky Lafabvre, says the public transit will help mobilize a lot of residents, stating that the transit system will “help our children and our senior citizens, as well as, people who can’t drive, get from one place to another.” Lafabvre says the residents of the city have displayed “overwhelming support” and that it reassure council that they’ve made a good choice bring public transit to Cold Lake, “it makes you feel good when you’ve made those decision as a council.”

The route will try to hit all the major areas, such as The Marina, Energy Centre, mall, library, doctors, FCSS, and retail section of the city on the south side. Lafabvre says this is the first time Cold Lake has transit so there will be a learning curve as to the best routes, noting “we may have to change along the way”. The City is also in talks to get a route to the base and perhaps even Kinisoo Ridge in the winter.

The city is open to feedback from the community, you can find them at Cold Lake’s website or Facebook and Twitter.
