MD council had two options after a presentation from Alberta Environment and Parks officials at last weeks council: Keep the Weir regulating water levels at Moose Lake, or scrap it. Council has voted to go with the latter, and has sent a request to minister Shannon Parks that the weir be removed.
Once the minister gives it the go-ahead, the process of removal can begin. The public will be asked for opinion on the job. MD also asked the AEP officials for some beaver dams up-stream from the lake to be removed to help with water flow.
