The ice road across Lac La Biche Lake is now open. It’s used to connect Poplar Point on the north shore to Maccagno Point, which is off the old Trail at Range Road 45.
The former access point at the Mission is no longer in use due to environmental concerns about shoreline damage.
The County of Lac La Biche reminds residents that using the ice road is at their own risk. While it has cleared heaves and other obstacles, conditions can change quickly.
The road will be closed if it’s suspected to be unsafe. The posted speed limit is 30 kilometres an hour, and the weight limit is 4,500 kilograms.
