The Alberta government says it’s achieved its goal of bringing high-speed internet access to 98 per cent of Alberta households.

Under the Final Mile Rural Connectivity Initiative, high-speed satellite services were provided to remote regions Alberta where fiber optic cable wasn’t feasible. 5.1 million taxpayer dollars was provided to 23 projects through the program to help cover the costs.

The Government of Alberta says it will now work with Internet service providers to maintain accurate service coverage information.
