Lakeland United Way Out of Cash

The Lakeland United Way is scraping the bottom of their piggy bank and have reported that their funds have run out.

The non-profit usually donates between 100 and 150,000 dollars a year to charities all over the region, but may have to cut back severely this year. The charity had to cancel their annual golf tournament this summer after it became clear it would be a money losing proposal. Usually the tourney brings in over fifty grand.

The United Way goes through funding applications at the end of the year and are issuing a challenge to local businesses. to help provide their usual standard of donations. If you want to help chip in, you can do so here.
