Funnel Cloud Spotted Near St. Paul

A funnel cloud has been spotted near St. Paul and Environment Canada has issued an advisory for the whole Lakeland region.

Funnel clouds do not usually present much of danger near the ground, but do have a chance of turning into weak tornadoes. If conditions become more favourable for tornadoes to appear, watches and warnings will be issued.

Landspout tornadoes do not usually cause significant damage but can still be dangerous. They can be strong enough to topple trees, damage roofs or toss debris short distances.

Treat any funnel cloud sighting seriously. Should a funnel cloud develop nearby, prepare to take shelter. These funnel clouds usually appear with little or no warning.
