RCMP Challenge Cup Road Race Tomorrow in St. Paul

The 37th Annual RCMP Challenge Cup Road Race is this Tuesday from 9 AM to Noon.

The relay race starts about two miles west of St. Brides, goes up Highway 29 and ends at the rec centre. Over a hundred students from around the area will be participating in three categories: Senior High, Junior High and Open. The first two are competitive with the first place team winning an award while the Open category is just for fun and a team is randomly selected for the prize. The RCMP will be running a team in the race too.

Drivers will have to be cautious while driving along Highway 29 during the event. Police will have cars on scene for  protection. Runners will be on either shoulder of the road and drivers are asked not to stop on the north side of the highway while the race is underway.

The run dates back to the early eighties as a PR move by the local detachment to improve relations with local youth.
