Canada 150 Mosaic To Be Pictures Instead of Tiles

There’s been a change of plans with the Bonnyville Canada 150 Mosaic that will bring costs down by over 15,000 dollars.

Councillor Lorna Storoschuk reported to council at Tuesday’s meeting that rather than have residents draw a tile, the committee decided to go with what she called an “electronic mosaic.” Residents will instead submit pictures that they feel represent the area, which will then be put together and printed off.

“We just couldn’t see people like myself that don’t draw going and painting a tile,” explained Storoschuk. “This way we’re going to be asking the public to submit photos. Then we’re going to have a committee review all of them and go from there.”

The painting idea was expected to cost somewhere in the 20,000 dollar range, while the photo method will be well under five.
