MD Gets 30K For Tire Recyling Centre

The MD of Bonnyville has gotten some cash back after building a tire recycling centre last year.

Alberta Recycling has given the MD 30,000 dollars as a grant for building an area for tires at the Therien Transfer Station. In a letter to council, Chair Bob Barss of Alberta Recycling commends the project.

“Your construction of a bunker at at Therien Transfer Station demonstrates a strong commitment to the environment and residents of the county by ensuring they have a convenient and accessible area to recycle tires. It is a credit to the hard work of Albertans that the equivalent of 100 million car tires has been recycled through the province’s tire recycling program since its inception in 1992.

“The Municipal District of Bonnyville No. 87 is a valued partner with registered municipal collection sites in the tire program (as well as the electronics and paint recycling programs) and we hope your residents will be well served by the grant project.”
