Bonnyville RCMP uncover stolen property and narcotics cache in search warrant operation

A coordinated effort between Bonnyville RCMP and St. Paul RCMP Traffic Services on April 26, resulted in the execution of a search warrant at a rural property in Bonnyville. The operation, conducted as part of an ongoing investigation into stolen property, led to the arrest of one individual and the seizure of significant illicit substances and stolen goods.  

 

During the search, law enforcement officers uncovered a cache of illegal items, including 223.5 grams of cocaine, 523.8 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 21 firearms, several thousand rounds of ammunition, five stolen trailers, a stolen ATV, a stolen engine skid, various other stolen items, and $6,000 in cash.  

As a result of the investigation, Joseph Gamache, 43, a Bonnyville resident, is facing several charges including possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, theft over $5,000, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, unlawful possession of firearms, careless storage of a firearm, and possession of a firearm contrary to order.  

 

Following his arrest, Gamache appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was released on condition. He is scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Bonnyville on May 28.

“The Bonnyville RCMP continues to fulfill its mandate to enforce property crime offences which, often times, uncover other serious offences, such as, in this case, the discovery of 21 firearms and $40,000 worth of cocaine and methamphetamine,” said S/Sgt. Sarah Parker, Detachment Commander of the Bonnyville RCMP.
