Cold Lake RCMP investigation leads to drug trafficking charges

A long-term drug trafficking investigation by the Cold Lake RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) has resulted in charges against two Edmonton men.

Following an investigation that began earlier this year with help from the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT), Cold Lake RCMP GIS arrested two suspects on Lakeshore Drive in Cold Lake North on November 6th.

A search of a related vehicle uncovered 45 pre-packaged bags of suspected cocaine along with Canadian currency.

Oswaldo-Jose Chanchan Osorno, 30, is facing charges of trafficking and possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance. Domingo Moneny, 38, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Both men appeared before a Justice of the Peace and were released on conditions, with court dates set for November 27th and December 11th, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Cold Lake.

Cold Lake RCMP encourages the public to report suspicious activity by contacting the detachment at 780-594-3301 or, anonymously to Crime Stopper at 1-800-222-8477.
