Suspect apprehended after an armed robbery incident in Cold Lake

In the early hours of November 30, the Cold Lake RCMP responded to an armed robbery at a convenience store situated on 8 Avenue in Cold Lake.  

The suspect, allegedly brandishing both a firearm and a collapsible baton, entered the establishment with a demand for cigarettes.  

Upon compliance with his demands, the suspect swiftly fled the scene with two cartons of cigarettes. Witnesses reported that he hopped into a waiting vehicle and promptly sped away Northbound on 8 Avenue. Cold Lake RCMP quick to action immediately launched an investigation into the incident.  

Utilizing the store’s CCTV footage, investigators were able to identify the male suspect involved in the armed robbery promptly.  

27-year-old Cold Lake resident Samuel Logan Willer was taken into custody and charged with robbery with a firearm, uttering threats, and failure to comply with a release order.  

The investigation team ensured a thorough examination of the evidence and collaborated closely with relevant authorities. Subsequently, Samuel Logan Willier was remanded into custody pending further legal proceedings. His next court appearance is scheduled for December 4, 2023, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Cold Lake.
