Man involved in LLB standoff will not get bail

A man who was the centre of a standoff with police near Lac La Biche will not be released on bail. In a hearing on Tuesday, a judge in Bonnyville Provincial Court ruled that 43-year-old Darren Cadieux will stay behind bars until his next court appearance.

Cadieux was arrested in January after mounties were called to a home in the Holowachuk Estates area in Lac La Biche County after reports of gunfire. Police locked down the area and tried to get Cadieux out of the home for about 12 hours. He was arrested without incident.

Cadieux is facing charges including possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes and uttering threats. He will make his next court appearance on March 4th in Lac La Biche.
