Three Teenagers Arrested for Multiple Car Thefts

Cold Lake RCMP have arrested three teenagers in relation to several car thefts in Bonyville and Cold Lake.

Police were tipped off to a stolen vehicle that was spotted on a property on the Elizabeth Metis Settlement. Police arrived at the scene and discovered a second stolen car there as well.

As luck would have it, while RCMP were poking around, a third vehicle reported stolen rolled up and three young men got out.

One of them was arrested without incident after trying to flee and a second sprayed officers and a police dog with bear spray. The officers and the police dog did not suffer serious injuries as a result. The third suspect was later tracked by police dogs in the area. Both youths who fled sustained minor injuries during arrest and were treated by EMS before being taken into custody.

A 14-year-old and two 17-year-old boys were charged with multiple offences including:

· Obstruction of a police officer
· Assault of a police officer
· Possession of a weapon/prohibited device
· Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00
· Fail to comply with recognizance
· Fail to comply with probation order

They are expected to have their day in court via CCTV on Wednesday.

As the matter is now before the courts no further information will be provided.
