Dr. Margaret Savage Crisis Centre to Visit Bonnyville Town Council

The Dr. Margaret Savage Crisis Centre will be making a presentation to the town of Bonnyville at Tuesday’s council meeting to talk about their upcoming “Walk a Mile In Her Shoes” event.

A group of male volunteers will be strutting some red high heels at the February 26th Bonnyville Pontiacs game, taking a stand against domestic violence. It’s the first major event the centre has put on since expanding their services to Bonnyville last year.

In March of 2016 the Bonnyville Community Support Program was launched and in the first six months, 38 files were opened. To date, Community Support Workers with the centre have helped over 53 clients through one on one supports and referrals. They have also set up community information booths and built relationships with various agencies in the area.

The program includes group sessions for both men and women, programs for youth detailing the importance of healthy relationships and educational presentations throughout the community.

For more information please call the Bonnyville Community Support office at 780-826-2656 or email [email protected].
