MLA Cyr Likes Pipeline Approvals, Dislikes Carbon Tax

Local MLA Scott Cyr is happy with the recent approval of two new pipelines by the federal government, but still feels there’s plenty to be unsatisfied about.

“These announcements for replacement pipelines are long overdue but are welcomed. We need shovels in the ground right now on these and the Alberta Minister of Energy has committed to having these projects started within the year.”

However, that’s where the praise ends.

“While the Prime Minister has credited Alberta’s plan to cap greenhouse gas emissions for the approvals it is important to know the federal government is also looking to implement its own social license. Our federal government is forcing a nationwide carbon tax on all of us hoping Canadians will accept their senseless national carbon tax.”
