Bonnyville RCMP deploy body-worn cameras for frontline officers

Bonnyville RCMP has officially equipped its frontline officers with body-worn cameras as part of the Alberta RCMP’s ongoing efforts to enhance transparency, accountability, and modernization.

After undergoing training, officer are now actively using the new technology while serving the community.

This initiative is part of a 12 month nationwide rollout that began in the fall of 2024, with Alberta RCMP detachments leading the way. Across Canada, between 10,000 and 15,000cameras are being deployed to frontline officers as part of the effort.

“Bonnyville RCMP members are now wearing these cameras,” said Staff Sgt. Sarah Parke. “Check out the information by scanning the attached QR code.”

Body-worn cameras have become standard in policing worldwide, offering a reliable way to document interactions between officers and the public. Alberta RCMP says the cameras will help build public trust, improve interactions, enhance evidence collection, and streamline complaint investigations.
