St. Therese-St. Paul Healthcare Centre emergency department renovations near completion

The $3.5 million renovation of the emergency department at the St. Therese-St. Paul Healthcare Centre is nearing its final stages, Alberta Health Services announced.

Key upgrades include increasing the number of exam rooms from seven to ten, creating a dedicated triage space, and adding enhanced treatment areas to improve patient privacy and safety.

The ED also features bariatric-accessible washrooms. “Additionally, there are upgrades to vital hospital infrastructure, including electrical, data, mechanical, medical gas, and nurse call systems,” according to AHS.

Improvements also include a new diagnostic imaging space equipped with an S-ray machine and a dedicated electrocardiogram space.

“Once finished, these upgrades will ensure the ED provides quality emergency care available to the community for many years. More information will be shared once the project is completed,” stated AHS.

The project which was first announce in March of 2021, The Alberta government announced it would provide $3.5 million funding for the hospitals renovations through the province’s Rural Health Facilities Revitalization Program.

Construction began in the fall of 2023.
