Freezing rain warning issued for the Lakeland region

Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for multiple areas in Northeast Alberta, including the Lakeland region.

Freezing rain is expected to begin early this morning before changing into snow this afternoon.

Residents are advised to exercise caution as highways, roads, walkways, and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Drivers should reduce speed in hazardous conditions, maintain a safe following distance, and remain vigilant for taillights ahead. Changing road conditions may require adjustments to driving behaviour.

Environment Canada encourages residents to continue to monitor weather alerts and forecasts. Severe weather reports can be emailed to ABstorm@ec.gc.ca or share on social media using #ABStorm.

Residents are urged to take precautions and plan accordingly for challenging weather conditions.
