Operation Red Nose wraps up successful 2024 campaign with record participation

Operation Red Nose is celebrating the conclusion of its successful 2024 campaign, a month-long effort to promote road safety across nearly 70 regions in Canada. This year Operation Red Nose was powered by 23,827 volunteers nationwide, providing 26,935 safe rides during the holidays season.

In Alberta, Cold Lake stood out being the only community to host Operation Red Nose for the 2024 campaign season.

Marketing and Maintenance Manger for the Cold Lake Agricultural Society, Dustin Foulds, shared the local impact of the campaign. “We raised just a little over $3,000 for local youth initiatives, including Cold Lake Minor Football and the Cold Lake Agricultural Society,” he stated. “A big thank you to all our sponsors and volunteers for helping keep our community roads safe this holiday season.”

In Alberta, 103 volunteer drivers contributed to the campaign’s success, delivering 101 safe rides. These numbers reflect the improvement of the campaign over past years, with a rise in both the average number of rides per night and the number of volunteers participating each evening.

Founding President of Operation Red Nose, Jean-Marie De Koninck, praised the spirit of collaboration that fuels the campaign’s success. “This 32nd campaign in Alberta is striking proof of the generosity and commitment of our volunteers, partners, and local host organizations. Thanks to their renewed dedication, we managed to offer a concrete and user-friendly solution to ensure everyone’s safety during the holidays.”

The non-profit organization, established in 1984, is dedicated to preventing impaired driving through its volunteer-based safe rise service. All funds raised by the program are reinvested into local communities to support youth and amateur sports projects.
