The St. Paul Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 5000 Block of 47 Avenue on Christmas Day at 2:31 p.m.
Upon arrival, heavy fire was observed coming from a basement window. Three individuals were seen exiting the rear of the residence, but it is unclear whether they were attempting to alert potential occupants or were inside the building when the fire began.
25 firefighters responded to the incident. By 3:43 p.m., the fire was declared under control and searches confirmed no occupants were inside.
Preliminary investigations have determined the fire was intentionally set.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact St. Paul RCMP Detachment at 780-645-8870.
