On December 11th, around 1:45 p.m., Bonnyville RCMP responded to a 911 call reporting an armed carjacking.
The victim reporting that a male suspect had stolen his truck while he had stepped out to take work-related photographs. Within moments, the suspect entered the running vehicle and attempted to drive away.
The victim confronted the suspect, who then brandished a knife before fleeing the scene in the stolen truck. During his escape, the suspect struck several parked vehicles before abandoning the truck and fleeing on foot.
RCMP quickly responded and identified a nearby apartment on 42 Street and 45 Avenue as the suspects’ hiding place. Police contained the area and arrested both the male suspect an a female accomplice without incident.
The suspects, identified as 22-year-old Sam Nunweiler and 20-year-old Jasmine Williams both of Bonnyville, have been charged with robbery with a weapon. Nunweiler faces additional charges, including four counts of mischief over $5,000 and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Following a bail hearing, both suspects were remanded into custody and are schedule to appear in court on December 16.
