St. Paul RCMP officer facing child exploitation charges scheduled for preliminary hearing

St. Paul RCMP officer accused of multiple child exploitation offenses will face a preliminary hearing on June 23, 2025.

Evan Peacock, 33, was first charged in April 2024 by the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams’ (ALERT) Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit. The charges included possession, distribution, and accessing child pornography. Following his arrest, Peacock was released under strict conditions and suspended from duty with pay.

In June 2024, a separate investigation by the Alberta RCMP’s Eastern Alberta District General Investigative Section resulted in additional allegations against Peacock. This investigation focused on accusations that he had used online platforms to solicit sexual contact with underage females.

As a result, Peacock was charged with one count of child luring and another for failing to comply with conditions set out in his release order. He has remained in custody since the new charges were laid.

Peacock’s preliminary hearing in June 2025 will determine whether sufficient evidence exists for the case to proceed to trial. The RCMP and ALERT have emphasized their commitment to ensuring the integrity of law enforcement and holding personnel accountable for any criminal conduct.
