Bonnyville man is facing multiple charges following traffic stop on Highway 41

A Bonnyville man is facing several charges following a traffic stop on November 5, after Bonnyville RCMP received a tip about a possible suspended driver on Highway 41.

Around 2:30 p.m., RCMP located the suspect truck and trailer, confirmed the drivers identity and verified that his license was suspended. During the roadside check, officers found crystal meth in plain sight, leading to the driver’s arrest on suspicion of drug trafficking.

After further investigation it was revealed that the truck’s Vehicle Identification Number had been altered.

Dean Gamache, 34, of Bonnyville has been charged with several offences, including driving while prohibited, possession of stolen property, altering a VIN, failure to comply with a probation order, and possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.

Gamache was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on November 19.
