Cold Lake RCMP traffic stop led to drug trafficking and firearms charges

A traffic stop on October 31 in Cold Lake resulted in drug trafficking and weapons charges, after RCMP arrested two males suspected of involvement in illegal drug distribution. 

During a search incidental to the arrest, police located approximately 135 grams of suspected cocaine, approximately 10 grams of suspected methamphetamine, over $6000 in Canadian currency, a loaded sawed-off shotgun, and other paraphernalia consistent in drug trafficking.  

Police obtained a search warrant for a residence associated with one of the males arrested in Cold Lake South. Cold Lake RCMP General Investigation Section and General Duty officers executed the search warrant on November 1. During the search officers located more quantities of suspected cocaine, suspected fentanyl, ammunition, and body armor.  

The suspects identified as Warren Johannesen-Quail, 34, and Keenan Plamondon, 30, both residents of Cold Lake are both facing numerous charges.  

Johannesen-Quail faces charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order.  

Following an appearance before a Justice of the Peace, he was released on a release order and is scheduled to appear in court in Cold Lake on December 11.  

Plamondon was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of a firearm. Plamondon was remanded in custody, and he is set to appear in court on November 13, in Cold Lake.
