On the evening of October 5, Cold Lake RCMP arrested two individuals on multiple weapons-related offences after officers discovered loaded firearms in a parked vehicle during an unrelated investigation. Â
Around 8:45 p.m., police were at a residence in Cold Lake for an unrelated matter when they noticed a firearm inside a vehicle parked at the location. Upon further investigation, officers found the firearm was loaded. A second firearm, along with additional ammunition, was also located inside the vehicle. Â
Following the discovery, police arrested two individuals, 26-year-old Kyle Piche and 30-year-old Faith Macdonald, both Cold Lake residents. Â
Piche and Macdonald face multiple charges including, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of a restricted/prohibited weapon without a license or registration, two counts unsafe storage of firearms, three counts unauthorized possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon and two counts unauthorized possession of a firearm. Â
Both appeared before a Justice of the Peace, Piche was remanded into custody and is set to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Cold Lake on October 24. Macdonald was released on a release order with conditions and is set to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Cold Lake on November 13.
