A routine traffic stop in Bonnyville led to the arrest of a man in connection with stolen bank cards and other charges.
On October 10, at approximately 4 a.m., the Bonnyville RCMP initiated a traffic stop after noticing a vehicle displaying an incorrect license plate. Upon further investigation, officers discovered that the vehicle was neither registered nor insured.
During the stop, police identified a 37-year-old passenger who was under legal conditions that prohibited them from being in the vehicle without the owner present. Additionally, one of the vehicle’s occupants, identified as Corey John-Cook, was found to be in possession of several stolen bank cards.
John-Cook, a resident of Kehewin, has been charged with possession of stolen property, misuse of credit cards, and failure to comply with a release order condition. Following his arrest, he was held for a bail hearing, where the Justice of the Peace granted his release.
John-Cook is scheduled to appear in court on November 5.
