Community members will be lacing up their runners in Lions Park to take part in the second annual Rainbow Run later in June.
The Rainbow Run is a family-friendly two-kilometre walk or run that celebrates pride in the community. Last year Cold Lake’s Mayor Craig Copeland told mylakelandnow.com that the city was excited for the event as pride is an important part of the community.
“We are an all-inclusive community and I encourage everyone to go out and support it and get some exercise while you’re at it,” Copeland says.
The run is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 23rd and will go until 1 p.m., with a BBQ and family activities afterwards.
A week ahead of the pride celebration event those who are registered will get their Rainbow Run Event Package which will include details on event logistics. Dogs are welcome to take part in the run but have to be on a leash and are not allowed in the park.
Registration, which closes on June 22nd, costs $5 for an individual and $20 for a family.
