Bonnyville’s Rural Renewal Stream Program thriving in 2024

The Town of Bonnyville’s Rural Renewal Stream Program, introduced last fall, has become a beacon of success for workers and employers in the community according to officials.

There have been 46 work endorsement letters, and over 100 job postings have been issued since the program began in November 2023. Currently, 26 businesses are actively participating in the program, with an additional dozen expressing interest in joining.

This provincially approved program is designed to attract and retain newcomers. Additionally, it aims to assist local employers in filling crucial labor gaps, allowing businesses to hire additional workforce and offering eligible workers unique opportunities to immigrate into the community.

Mayor Elisa Brosseau expressed her satisfaction, saying, “The program has surpassed our expectations in terms of the uptake from businesses in the Town. The program allows businesses to hire positions that have been hard to fill and gives confidence to businesses that if they need to find an additional workforce, it is readily available. There are lots of job openings on the job board hosted on the Town’s website that locals or foreign workers can apply directly to employers.”
