In a unanimous decision, the Cold Lake City council has endorsed the recommendation of the FCSS Advisory Committee, approving three grants totaling $22,750 under the City of Cold Lake’s Social Inclusion and Infrastructure Grant policy. Â
The Social Inclusion and Infrastructure Grant, a creation of the City of Cold Lake, aims to support organizations dedicated to funding projects that assist vulnerable individuals in the community. To qualify, successful applicants must present a program or project to mitigate social issues through preventative, intervention-based initiatives or a combination of both. Â
This grant, established as a five-year program, allocates $100,000 annually, with application deadlines set for October 1 each year. Having commenced in 2021, the program’s final intake is scheduled for 2025. Â
The triumphant recipients of the 2023 Social Inclusion and Infrastructure Grants are as follows: Â
Cold Lake Native Friendship Centre Society: Awarded $5,000 to support training costs for culturally appropriate programs, fostering positive community relationships through cultual knowledge. Â
Age Friendly Cold Lake Society: Granted $15,800 to cover expenses related to training, volunteer recognition, program supplies, and the marketing of their programs and services.Â
Cold Lake John Howard Society: Receives $1,950 to aid in training and program expenses for their services addressing food insecurity and providing temporary shelter for those in need. Â
