Back to school clothing drive opens up to help the community

Bonnyville and District Family & Community Support Services are opening the doors to the St. Louis Parish Hall for a Back-to-School Clothing Drive.

During the two-day event, families can grab bags and head over to pick up some clothing donated by the community. The doors will be open on Aug. 29th from 12:00-7:00 pm and Aug. 30 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Rachelle Lavoie from the Bonnyville and District FCSS and LFRN says they have a lot of clothes for the pickup.

“We decided to do a free back-to-school clothing drive as we know with the rise of the cost of everything things can be quite expensive, especially for families looking to get their kids ready for the new school year. Instead of having to drive to Edmonton and paying for fuel, we have invited the community to fill the St. Louis Parish Hall full of clothes that are in good condition so other families can get what they need.”

Yesterday was donation day where the Bonnyville and District FCSS and LFRN took in donations from the community. The staff and volunteers worked from 12:00-7:00 pm and were constantly busy. Lavoie says there is a lot of clothing for people to pick up.

“We do have a lot of clothes and a lot of brand names that I was able to see so you’ll definitely want to bring a couple bags.”

Any clothing left over will be sent to either Hearts2Hearts or Bargain Boutique.
