It seems residents in Bonnyville might not be legally popping a top in the park any time soon. Town council decided Tuesday not to move ahead with an idea that would allow alcohol consumption in municipal parks.
Council says they heard back from a police committee after they passed the idea along back in June. The biggest reason for the kybosh was the fact that no parks around town really have a reason to serve alcohol, like a potential beer garden next to a stage.
The idea was originally handed down from Minister of Municipal Affairs Kaycee Madu after the province eased up consumption laws in provincial parks.
