The Municipal District of Bonnyville Will Maintain Its Mill Rates

The MD of Bonnyville released its Budget 2015 with the announcement that mill rates – which is the rate of which property is taxed- will stay the same for residential, non-residential, and farm properties in the MD.

Reeve Ed Rondeau explains, “our mill rate has not changed, we’ve held the line again this year and hope to do so next year as well.” Rondeau further explains that the “mill rate of 2.769 mills on residential properties is one of the best rates in Alberta”.

The mill rate will remain, however, depending on the value of a person’s property, your taxes may increase. The mill rate is multiplied by your property value and since the property value for the current tax season was assessed in July 2014 MD residents may see a slight increase. With that being said, The MD expects a values to go slightly down for 2016 tax season.
