The Bonnyville RCMP were patrolling Highway 28 on April 2nd, when they observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Police were able to conduct a traffic stop, which revealed the driver, a 33 year old man from Bonnyville who was well known to the police, was arrestable on charges stemming out of Cold Lake. The driver was arrested for two charges of Theft Under $5000.00 and Possession of Property Obtained By Crime for Cold Lake RCMP. A search of the vehicle was conducted and revealed fuel cards in relation to the Cold Lake Thefts, a baggy believed to contain Methamphetamine and a pellet gun which looked like a firearm. Police checks on the male revealed that he was only to operate vehicles with interlock devices which the vehicle he was driving did not. The male was transported to the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment where he remains in custody facing charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, and Driving While Unauthorized.
