Town, MD of Bonnyville Petitioning for Lower Speed Limit on Part of Hwy 28

Both the town and MD of Bonnyville want the Alberta government to lower the speed limit on a section of Highway 28 leading into the town.

The MD is requesting that the current limit of 100 kilometers an hour from the township road 611 intersection until the 70 kilometre limit on the west side of the town be reduced to 80.

The MD says there have been an increased number of accidents and near misses in the area reported by residents. The MD has sent an official request to the province -who controls speed limits on highways- with the town council voting to support the Md’s request.
