Celebration Sofa Begins Making Its Way Around St. Paul

Canada 150 is an extra big deal for the town of St. Paul. Not only is the country turning 150 years old, the iconic UFO landing pad is turning the big 50 as well.

Needless to say, there’s plenty of reason to mark the occasion and the FCSS is doing so with their celebration sofa, starting today. The sofa is in the town hall to kick things off, but will be traveling to different locations around the town every week leading up to July 1st. People who take a picture on the couch and use the hashtag #WeareallStPaul will be eligible for a wide variety of prizes the FCSS is handing out. Some of the loot includes gift cards to the businesses hosting it as well as for iTunes. The town will be putting up some merchandise as prizes as well.

FCSS Director Lynn Smid says response on day one has already been great. “We’ve had the girl guides stop by already. We’ve got lots of members in house here having a seat on the celebration sofa and getting the word out. It’s just a fun travelling photo booth to get everybody together celebrating.”

The sofa’s next stop will be at Smitty’s from March 31st to April 2nd for the Junior B Provincials.
