Town of Bonnyville Buying New Street Sweeper Under Budget

The town of Bonnyville is buying a new 2017 Pelican street sweeper to replace their current 2008 model, and for cheaper than they expected.

The town set aside 270 thousand dollars aside this year to upgrade their equipment to keep local streets clean, but the new vehicle they’re looking at comes in at a hair under 243. That’s without even factoring in the trade-in value of the one they’re using now.

The 2008 sweeper is still functional, but has seen better days. Maintenance costs have varied wildly from year to year as it gets on in years. The old sweeper will be used until the new one is shipped out, which can take from 90 to 140 days.
