LLB Hospital Gala Raises $125K

The Lac La Biche Hospital is about halfway to buying a CT scanner after The Regional Health Foundation’s Have a Heart Valentine’s Gala on Saturday.

Held in the Bold Centre, organizers had to turn people away after they reached their capacity of three hundered. Around 125,000 dollars was raised.

“It went way beyond expectations,” says Chairman for the Lac La Biche Regional Health Foundation, Zicki Eludin. ‘The community came together in such a big way in the middle of one of the worst recessions Lac La Biche has ever had. The community came in and it was awesome.”

The 100K raised brings the total money set aside for a CT Scanner at the hospital over the 400,000 dollar mark. It’s not cheap equipment to put it mildly, coming at an 855,000 dollar price tag.

Plans are already underway for next year’s raffle. A 120,000 dollar lot on Elinor Lake has been donated as the grand prize for a calendar raffle. The big draw will be held at the gala on February 10th, 2018.
