Karen Young, from Lac La Biche, received 18 months suspended sentence and must make a donation of $5000 to a cancer charity after pleading guilty to fraud charges. The 55 year old and  her husband were charged with fraud after the couple staged a fundraiser in 2012, to raise money to treat a medical condition Young allegedly didn’t have. Young’s husband’s charges were ultimately withdrawn.
